The drum-set I play on was given to me from a student I taught while living in Lufkin. When we finished a lesson, he decided that he wanted to get a drum-set. He told me, “I want what you would pick out. Drums and cymbals. The whole works.” So, I picked out a nice set that I would of love. I think it might of been the nicest one in the store. They didn’t have Sabian, so I picked out some nice Zildjans.

Time moved on. Said my good-byes to Lufkin and moved to College Station. Only to come back and start teaching again. I ran into the guy who bought the drums and asked him how everything was going? Long story short, he didn’t play them anymore. His exact words were, “They are collecting dust right now.” He knew that I’ve never owned my own drums. When I had a gig in high-school, I had to borrow my churches or a friends to play on. Then the following words came out;
“Do you want them?”
“Would be nice, but I don’t have money.”
“Do you want them? I’m not going to play them. If they are with you I know that you will put them to good use. You can have them. Don’t worry about money.”

So at the age of 19, or somewhere around there, I officially have my own drums. A nice drum-set at that.
